Pattern Design

This is a fabric sample of chicken feathers I designed and printed a few weeks back now, for costume designer Lizzie Povey. Next week proper print will start and will be used as the feature neck piece for Fantastic Mr Fox, ready for the ECA fashion show in May.

Massive Carrot Feast

That's right, more chickens... Shocker! I do draw other things honestly, but it's rather turned into an obsession. That and carrots. Next post I promise no relation to either.

60 Minute Zine

working solidly on my childrens book is rather tiresome. So yesterday I set myself a challenge to create a zine from pencil to print in an hour, and here is the product of just that. More of this zine can be seen on my flickr. Hopefully I will make a small collection of these.

overload

I haven't posted anything in a while, feeling a bit like this picture; surrounded with work rather than carrots though. On a more positive note I am feeling busy, but happy. Getting well on with my children's book. This is the character for this book, he is rather a brave character. Here he has 'stolen' as many carrots as he can from the nearby carrot farm.

Life drawing

Life drawing is not a strong point of mine, however as I have nothing as yet to post picture book wise, here we go... today i had a go with the acrylics. Sorry for the rather bad photographic reproduction.

Small Magazine

I was chosen to feature in the spring issue of Small Magazine as their 13th 'Small Draw' artist, along side Gemma Correll, who has done the illustrations for this issue. Small is a great online magazine dedicated to design, art, and photography all for little people. See more of my featured work and the rest of the magazine here. By going to 'small draw', you can download this issues colouring in image. Drawn by me. Its a great magazine so you should check it out.

Character modeling

Taking a break from drawing, and this was the result. I also hope to make a cuddly toy, with fabric that I have designed and screenprinted in the not so distant future.

Nonsense

A small book of Edward Lear's Nonsense rhymes.

There Was an Old person Of Dutton....

There was an old person of Dutton
who's head was so small as a button
so to make it look big he purchased a wig
and rapidly rushed about Dutton

One of the great rhymes by Edward Lear. This is the product of being stuck on actual work, and drawing the first thing that came to mind...hence the hilariously sized arm. But now I hope to make a small book of about nine or ten of similar drawings.

Bear and his Book

Another drawing based on the great old toys I saw at the Toy museum in Newcastle. This was a definite favorite.
